!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but whatever. It’s also worth noting this other picture...
In some of the advertising on the German site, the Z4 clearly appears with a manual gearbox (H pattern, same boot as the G30 manual) . I do not know if it’s a mistake or if it’s a base model. Last I heard neither the Z4 or the Supra will get a manual box this gen...But I’m probably wrong.
According to Wikipedia, the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
If it is, it might mean the Supra could come with a manual eventually, maybe post LCI. It wouldn’t be the first time an automaker released an automatic before the manual model, the F-Type did it, it was released in 2013 and the manual gearbox became optional on V6 models after 2015.

Happy to know I’m not the only one that spends time on foreign car brands’ configurators when I’m bored.
Been wondering how the base Z4 looked since all the pictures so far have been of the M40i, not bad at all actually

maybe euro only... which still seems a bit odd after Porsche’s GT3 experience

Well, it would still be the same basic shape as the Supra... it means there’s hope it could get a manual.

I think you can configure a base model on the Swiss site, I’ve been playing with the 30i, but I’m disappointed by the paint choices.

yep, totally agree - just weird that the US release doesn’t include it after the US manual take rates have been higher on some performance vehicles, (but maybe not lower end performance vehicles like the z4/supra...) Still trying to wrap my head around the Toyota’s projected target market...

Toyota’s projected target market...
It’s for weirdos like me, basically.
The more hate and vitriol a car gathers online, the more I like it.
Maybe that’s why I love the Stinger, and the Bolt!

Shame that the I6 is only available in the busy-looking M40i, the 30i with the Sport Line is the sweet spot looks-wise
I think there are a lot of colors missing, the car originally comes in red that isn’t speccable on the configurator , and nor the orange nor the frost silver from the launch gallery are there

It is a brand new feature I think, maybe that’s why. I also hate when automakers force the “sporty" bumpers with the higher end model, in that respect I like the Stinger; except for the wheels all models look the same.
Most car configurators suck, the best one might be P orsche’s 3D one and Rolls Royce’s.

Mercedes’ euro configurator is one of the best when it works (which is not often), and Bentley’s is good as well. I liked the Porsche 3D but it needs Unity Web Player and that only works with IE
Lamborghini’s is the best one in my opinion

They changed the Bentley one? The one I remember is very basic...

Yep, only the Flying Spur is on the old one. The new version pretty much lets you see every option you specced, and every color even has a small description

I think they said NA would be auto only and that Europe would have a manual for the base model.

I mean, they must’ve said it. Or else that photo was a mistake for a newer model ( which I doubt)

Yeah, BMWBlog says it will only be in the sDrive20i

20i is the 190hp model, yes?

Yep. 4 banger. B asically an overweight Miata.
![]() 10/13/2018 at 16:10 |

I’ve heard they expect it to be about 3400 lbs @ 194hp.
Compare to the 2019 Miata: 2450 lbs @ 181hp.
Sorry, no amount of torque overcomes 900+ lbs of extra weight at a 13 hp advantage.

Maybe its to compete with the SLC; the base model has 190hp too and a six speed manual. It is also very heavy

Say what you want about the Miata being a hairdresser car, but this base Z4 and SLC are positively going to be voted “most likely to be doing makeup while driving”. I bet almost none with have a manual and BMW will be like “SEE? NO ONE WANTS A MANUAL.”

3400 lbs? Isn't that just as much as the 2-series convertibles? What, do they make the chassis out of depleted uranium?

They have to do something with all the self loathing from whoring themselves out to people who think a spirited drive is one where you spill your drink so they’ve woven it into the seats. The spec sheet says that the emotional baggage weighs 1000 lbs dry.
